The Gosset Matchmakers 2021 competition took place on 14 September in London.
Every year, five of the country’s most promising young chefs and sommeliers compete in front of a jury. The jury must decide which team will find the best food and champagne pairing, by taking up two challenges. This year, the first challenge was to recreate a pre-established pairing with either Gosset Grande Réserve or Grand Blanc de Blancs. The second challenge took the form of a mystery box, from which each team had to create a dish to match with Gosset Grand Millésime 2012. There was a wide choice of ingredients, but all creations had to use Berkswell cheese, a sheep’s milk cheese.
