The Gosset park bees: a commitment to biodiversity
At the heart of our listed park in the center of Épernay, nestled within the historic Domaine of Maison Gosset, we chose in 2021 to cease all use of pesticides. This decision is fully in line with our CSR approach and reflects our desire to preserve the nature that surrounds us.
An old greenhouse turned into a haven for bees
It is in the former greenhouse of the Domaine that we chose to install beehives. The bees find there an ideal setting: one hectare of parkland, rich in plants, herbs, and flowers, offering them a wide variety of nectar sources. Everything is in place for them to feel right at home.
Homemade honey, produced and sold on site
Thanks to these bees, we now produce our own honey with the support of a local artisan beekeeper. True to our short supply chain philosophy, it is harvested and jarred on site. Each jar is therefore the result of the joint work of our bees and our teams, right in the heart of our Domaine.
Two anecdotes
- Maison Gosset is part of the Chemin des Abeilles in Épernay, an educational urban trail that highlights local initiatives in favor of pollinators.
- CHEMIN DES ABEILLES
- Our hives were originally populated with Buckfast bees. Over time, they interbred with the local wild black bees. Today, our colonies are therefore made up of hybrid bees, reflecting a fine balance between natural heritage and urban adaptation.
Preserving biodiversity every day
By welcoming these bees within our Domaine, we are contributing modestly but concretely to the preservation of biodiversity. This project illustrates our conviction: every gesture counts when it comes to protecting the environment and passing on a living heritage to future generations.
