On Monday, 14 September, Champagne Gosset presented the 31st Trophée Gosset to ANTOINE GOSSET, the last member of the family to head the company. With this award, the oldest Wine House in Champagne pays tribute to a career that embodies a dedication to preserving heritage and a centuries-old tradition of passing down family savoir-faire.

Passing on legacy: at the heart of gosset’s identity

Historical records show that the Gosset family was already producing wine in the Champagne region in 1484, exactly one century before the Champagne House was founded. Since then, Champagne Gosset has remained guided by the same uncompromising standards: a pursuit of excellence and a commitment to preserving the exceptional know-how passed down through the generations. More than an expression of terroir, Champagne Gosset’s wines embody a centuries-old heritage rooted in wine culture and gastronomy, a heritage that contributes to France’s prestige around the world. This same spirit gave rise to the TROPHÉE GOSSET.

Created in 1995, true to Champagne Gosset’s founding values, the Trophy was initially rooted in the world of gastronomy, recognising chefs and sommeliers whose dedication and talent represented the pinnacle of culinary excellence. From 1995 to 2011, it honoured leading figures in the culinary world, such as Anne-Sophie Pic, Yannick Alléno and Alain Passard. While remaining true to this spirit, the Trophy gradually broadened its scope to recognise initiatives dedicated to training, the passing on of savoir-faire, and the preservation of heritage. This natural evolution led Champagne Gosset to reinvent the Trophy in 2021, extending it to individuals from many different fields (crafts, culture, conservation and design) committed to preserving and passing on our heritage, both tangible and intangible.

While the TROPHÉE GOSSET has evolved over the years, its vocation remains unchanged: to recognise those individuals who keep heritage alive and ensure it is passed on to future generations. In this spirit, Champagne Gosset and its Chairman, Jean-Pierre Cointreau, therefore wished to pay tribute to Antoine Gosset, the last member of the family to head the Champagne House. His life and career embody the continuity of a family history dating back to the Renaissance and a legacy that has carried the Gosset name across seven centuries.
